Winter Time

Last week I fully intended to write. I sat down and decided to do a little family history work first. Well, a few hours later I realized I had used my time up and didn’t write. So this week I made the choice to do a letter first.

February is going well for us. The kids are staying busy with their activities. Ruth enjoys doing things with friends. On Valentine’s Day she spent the afternoon with her friend, Tessa. On Presidents day we didn’t have school and Ruth went with her friends Emily and Hailey to do a little shopping and go out for lunch. She also babysat for the Rack’s again and enjoys being at their home. She is working hard with school too and getting ready for next year with her registration for 11th grade.

Andrew is involved with Jazz band things this month. They had a concert a couple of weeks ago. I wasn’t able to attend because it was at the same time as cub scouts, but I understand he did a great job. I did go to the school district jazz festival that was held last Friday and listened to his band play. He did a great job with his solo there. He loves playing. He enjoyed doing the train club activity this month. Spencer and Caleb were also there. The club hosted an open house at the community center. They had things set up and people came to see and ask about their club. Andrew and Neal worked a lot on the n-scale layout and made great progress in getting it all wired. The boys enjoy their trains.

Spencer and I attended a nice meeting at the bishops home for the 11 year olds to talk about the temple and priesthood duties. Spencer and Ruth went with the youth to the temple and did baptisms. Spencer enjoys going there and likes the peaceful feeling he gets in the temple. Spencer decided to join an after school club with his friend Jonathan. The boys stay after school Tuesday and Thursday to go to the robotic club. They have enjoyed making things there.

Caleb was sick this last week end. That slowed him down but he is doing better today. Last night was his pinewood derby. He worked hard with Neal to have his car ready. He was happy to race it. On the 2nd we did a “Scouting for Food” drive with the district. Our Pack had the morning time slot to stand outside of Smith’s Foods store asking for donations for the food bank. Caleb and I spent time there and he enjoyed being a part of something that helps other people. Caleb is a full member of the model train club now and is enjoying being with the big boys. Caleb is working on his science project. He is diligently tending his little plants.

I went to a book club and enjoyed our discussion. I also went to a Relief Society activity where I made a little Valentine craft. The kids and I went to the dentist this month. No cavities for all five of us. I did hair cuts on all four kids on Monday. Yesterday we had a day off school for a snow day. The storm wasn’t that bad and I was surprised the school district closed. The kids enjoyed a four day weekend. I also have done cub scouts every week, teaching my primary class, participating in the ward choir and volunteering at the school library. It is a busy but good life.

Last week Neal gave me some pretty flowers. We exchanged cards and the kids had some fun with that too. Caleb loved going to school for the Valentine’s party. It was a nice time to remember those we love. I love you all. Thanks for being a part of my life.
