The Heat of July

It is July.  The weather got hot.  I will happy to get out of the heat of Texas.  Last Wednesday evening Andrew was able to be at the Pack Meeting to receive his awards he has earned.  He got his Wolf badge, his Religious Knot, two arrow points and a bunch of belt loops for things he did a day camp.  I was proud of him to get so much done before we move.  After the awards we went outside to watch the boys do a little car racing.  They had fun on them.  Caleb and Spencer had fun playing with some bubbles.  It was a nice evening to be outside, that was before it got so hot.

I think Andrew went faster running the car back to the start than he did going down the lane.

The kids have had fun reading and filling out reading logs for the Hewitt library program.  We got free donuts last week.  Today we got free Pizza Hut pizza with their coupons.  They think it is great we can get some treats.  Friday I took the kids over to the Hewitt park.  The play ground wasn’t that interesting to them and they wandered over to the volley ball area.  They started to play in the sand.  It was perfect to build things in because of the rain last week had made it damp.  They also got very dirty.  It reminded me of being at a beach.

Caleb wouldn't look at me for a picture

It was windy at the park and I thought the flag looked pretty

Yesterday we went to the museum and had fun watching a dinosaur movie and then playing for a couple of hours.  I am glad that we have a place to go when it is hot.  Did I mention how hot it has been this week?

Last week I finished reading the Narnia series to the kids.  They all enjoyed the books.  I enjoyed reading them again.  I started reading “The Secret Garden” to them.  The older kids really like it and look forward to our reading time each evening.

Things have been busy for me being on my own with the kids.  I am working hard at packing things each day.  Today I didn’t get to packing.  We went to the library for an entertainment program with animals.  It was fun.  Then I did grocery shopping.  Now I have been getting caught up on my computer stuff.

We were sad to hear of Great Grandma Hubbard’s passing.  She was a kind and generous lady.  I hope that those who are traveling to go to the funeral will be safe.  Our thoughts and prayers will be with you.
